'MESSAGE': THE GOLDFISH PHONE BOOTH PROJECT 金魚

Today I stumbled across Nobuki Yamamoto's installation (sculpture), "Message,” exhibited in 1993 featuring a telephone booth filled with goldfish. He even went as far as having bubbles come through ports on the floor of the booth to simulate “a conversation.”

Reflecting on Nobuki Yamamoto's "Message" and the ensuing legal discourse that took place [see link here], it’s clear that the world of art is as complex as it is beautiful. These episodes shape our understanding of creativity and the boundaries within which it operates. These fish, swimming in urban phone booths, are more than art. They represent a fusion of past and present, a creative nod to good luck in the midst of modern life. These booths transform the everyday into a canvas of imagination. It's this marriage of tradition and innovation, the ordinary with the extraordinary. And that's why I love it.
